We  have found a great dentist just across the border in Tijuana, Mexico. Dr. Hernandez is very efficient and has a holistic view of dentistry.

Last week, Patricia had an old root canal tooth pulled (successfully), and we walked back across the border in a few minutes.
The wound did not heal the way we expected, and since we are traveling next week and Patricia was still having pain, we wanted to make sure there was no infection.  Patricia called Dr. Hernandez this morning, and he wanted to take a look at it (on a Saturday;  that's real service).  Now this would not have happened here. We would have had to wait at least until business hours Monday, or it would have cost us an arm and a leg.

So we went; all was ok with the tooth (no infection). We were in and out in 20 minutes. Then it hit us. It's the weekend, and the border is busy, very very busy.  3.5 hours later, we were back in the USA, hurray.

From here to the border it's only one hour wait.

From here it was 3.5 hours slow moving.

San Miguel de Allende

I just loved this town.  The most I have seen of Mexico until now was the Northwest Coast of Baja as far down as Ensenada. While I liked it, San Miguel is so different, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Everything is very clean and colorful but not cheap. The rents seem to be very good, but everything that tourists want is expensive, about the same as we pay here in the US for hotels, food, souvenirs and guided tours, for example. Still, it is a place I will gladly go back to.
