I am looking for a real job, with real money, some benefits and descend working hours. I also have a car with roof rack.
I spend all day on the computer researching anything to do with job search, and resume writing.
I have a software program that lets me just fill in the details about myself and then format it.
It should be very easy, and it is not, at least for me, I just don’t seem to fit into what is needed and wanted in today’s work force.
I have tons of experience in all sorts of fields; on the other hand I don’t have a degree of any kind, so I am not easily to be fitted into a category.
I am not really sure what job I want to do, I know what I like and want to do, and they seem to ask all that you have to have some BA or BS or a Master of some description, so I am stuck strait away.
Now the counselor tells me that I am good, I have the capability to fill all sorts of positions based on my experience, so just tell them a story that makes sense and you are in.
I don’t want to be righteous about this, and somehow it does not seem right that one has to lie in order to land a job.
Well if you want to play the game you just need to learn the rules, so I go on one of the sites where they have all the power words, and the sentences that I can put into the introduction to attract the attention of a prospective employer.
For some 40 years I have been employing people in a variety of businesses, in most cases if they could answer a few very basic questions I would tell them that they can work for a period and show me what they can do, because I think that is the only way to find out if someone works out.
I realize of course that in today’s world we think that is not possible, because there is such a process we have to get through until we get the OK, it also is very costly from the employers point of you.
And despite with all the testing beforehand I ask how often do these big businesses employ someone and have to let them go or loose them within a week.
I am not giving an answer here, I have none, and I keep telling stories until someone can make use of the knowledge I accumulated over the last 62 years, good luck Michael
