Are we the leaders?

Last night I watched a show ‘Extreme Home Makeover’ and they build a house to an Iraq war veteran. Now I am not apposed to building a house for anyone, I think it is great that we show what can be done and we should have more of it, what I am apposed to is the warship of war hero’s, I do absolutely not deny that this guys have done a great job, but the way it is rammed down our thoughts concerns me. I have to think that on the other side of that gun was a guy just a heroic with a family and comrades, a country, idea and a god, just the same as ours. Until we can see this and change our attitudes, on booth sides, I am afraid nothing much will change in the next few hundred years. I wish I had an answer, and I think there is none, we just can try another way and see how that works. I think it is now time for us to start setting an example for the world. Start with fighting pollution, weapon proliferation, the environment, looking after disadvantaged and much more, we have been for so many years on the forefront of technology and living standards in the world; it is up to us or just shut up. Like a friend of mine once said, you lead, follow or get out of the way.
