Learning new tricks

The one thing I had to relearn is to listen and just do as I am told, like when I was in my teens.

The difference now is that the one telling me now what to do is more than twenty years younger.

It reminds me of the saying that ‘you can not teach an old dog new tricks’.

This day the old dog is better ready to learn new tricks, because just about everyone who is in charge is younger than me, and thinks he or she knows better.

I was looking at what work can not be exported to Asian or Eastern Block Countries, and the service industry is about the safest, mind you they import a lot of people from other places to fill these jobs for less money, in the end the household I work for does appreciate that they can speak in there native tongue and the life experience I bring to the job.

At first of course it will mean for some, and did for me, to get less money paid than I was earning before, the difference is the level of stress, much less.

This is just the first step to a new life, as I am looking around, and this is a well known fact, more people getting older, and are still able and wanting to work, not many have the means to live of there savings or have a house big enough to be busy a lot of the time.

In my new career I feel like I am looking after my own place just doing the things around the house I would need to do on weekends if I was working elsewhere.

At first it is a bit awkward because I had to get the trust of my new employer, and they had to find out what I was capable of and repaired to do. After six or so month we seem to be comfortable with each other and the days work flows quit easy.

That’s it for today, the next blogg will be about what to look for in and place of employment such as where I am.
